Historic England’s dedication to preserving the country’s rich historic environment extends beyond physical conservation efforts to include comprehensive educational initiatives.
In this project, our primary goal was to validate the accuracy of references to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) heavily used in their Essentials Programme, rectify any broken links, and enhance the overall clarity and coherence of the course content.
Ultimately, this effort ensures that the same standards of excellence applied to preserving England’s historic buildings are upheld in their e-learning initiatives.
Being a global company offers numerous advantages but also presents unique challenges. This large-scale project involved multiple simultaneous training initiatives with a single goal: upskilling a their workforce.
Our solution was to create a multilingual digital hub where users across all locations could easily access off-the-shelf training content, presented in an engaging and user-friendly manner. We replaced many traditional training presentations that led to “suislide” (death by slides) with interactive, practical, and helpful slidedocs—slide decks specifically designed for sharing and reading on small screens.
This project consisted of four highly interactive and accessible modules, compliant with WCAG 2.1 standards. Its standout feature was the engaging travel theme, which formed the foundation for both the graphics and storytelling.
Learners embarked on a dynamic journey, experiencing the material in a vibrant, moving narrative. Despite the absence of videos, we maximized Storyline animations to animate the illustrations. This strategy lightened the complexity of the course content, maintaining learner engagement throughout.
To speed up the development process we used one storyboard only for content & programming notes in word format and a another one in PowerPoint to demonstrate all interactions and animations required for each screen.
